Brian Collins’ (1949-1968) sole Wayland connection comes through Cara Collins Chase, Brian’s niece whom he never met. Cara is the wife of WHS history teacher Sean Chase. Brian Collins grew up in Dorchester, moved to Walpole during his junior year, and graduated from Walpole High School in 1967. He then volunteered for the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam, where he paid the ultimate price for his country. The documents in the slideshow below are an extraordinarily powerful sequence that provide a glimpse of how a family learns the devastating news that their precious son and brother would not be coming home.
